New Orleans police investigating fatal Mid City shooting

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

New Orleans police are investigating a shooting in Mid City that left a 23-year-old man dead. The incident occurred Saturday around 7:08 in the 400 block of South Salcedo Street. 

According to police, the victim was found on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced on scene.  

Preliminary reports from NOPD say the 23-year-old victim was exiting his vehicle when two unidentified men attempted to rob his friend who was standing outside the car. One of the robbers fired two shots, according to the report, which struck and killed the 23-year-old.
