KENTWOOD, LA (WVUE) - A Kentwood woman was killed Thursday night as she walked along a rural St. Helena Parish highway.
Just after 11 p.m., Kristi Allen, 35, of Kentwood was walking along the westbound lane of La. 38 when she was stuck by a Ford Mustang driven by Tanya Crowe, 22, of Amite.
Investigators say Allen was walking westbound when she was struck by the left front of Crowe's Mustang.
Authorities said the location of the crash scene is a rural area with no street lights and there was a light misting rain at the time of the crash.
Allen was taken to St. Helena Parish Hospital in critical condition. She died shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Blood samples were taken from Allen and will be sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
Crowe voluntarily provided troopers with a breath sample. The sample showed no trace amounts of alcohol.
