Rudolph worked overtime last night with plenty of fog around here, but as the day wore on the fog lifted, but the muggy warm air held on. Through the afternoon with a bit of sun breaking through temperatures were able to climb into the 80s.
The airport reached a new record high of 81. We are getting a bit of a break as we head into the rest of the long holiday weekend. Saturday will remain warm and muggy, but high pressure in the upper levels should help keep shower activity to a minimum.
The thunderstorms are not done yet though. Most of Sunday looks quiet, but a strong upper low will move through late giving us a chance at strong to severe storms late Sunday night into Monday morning. The Storm Prediction Center places the area to our west under a slight risk for severe and our area under a marginal risk for that time period. By the middle of next week we will finally start to see some less hot weather, but really only getting down to around our typical long term averages.
