NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Christmas brought record-breaking heat for New Orleans.
Many headed to City Park for a boat ride or a leisurely stroll. Others preferred more traditional holiday weather. So, to beat the heat, some families took Christmas to the New Orleans Convention Center to hit the ice skating rink.
And, if you're wondering why it's so hot out there, FOX 8 Meteorologist Nicondra Norwood has an answer. "We are in a El Nino pattern, and while this is not a text book El Nino, we are definitely seeing that flow that is off the Pacific where we are getting those wet storms coming by, moving through in the southern jet stream, which is not typical for this time of year and it's making it a whole lot harder for us to get into those deep polar dips."
