NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

New Orleans police have arrested four men wanted for an attempted armed robbery in New Orleans East. The incident occurred around 9:50 a.m. in the 7900 block of Dorsett Drive. The suspects have been identified as 19-year-old James Hawkins, 21-year-old Armond Sylvester, 21-year-old Laquan Grant and 23-year-old Andre Francis.

According to police, the 36-year-old victim said that he was driving his car and stopped at a stop sign near the intersection of Dorsett Drive and Wales Street. As he was stopped, the victim noticed a black man walk up to his car armed with a pistol and demanding his property. The three other men then tried to open the passenger side front door before the victim was able to speed away.

Officers responding to the scene noticed three men matching the description of the suspects, standing in front of a home in the 7900 block of Dorsett. The officers spoke with the homeowner who said that her son was home with three of his friends. Police took the four men in custody until the victim arrived on scene. The victim identified the four men as the ones who tried to rob him. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the home and located two pistols inside.

Hawkins, Sylvester, Grant and Francis were brought to Orleans Parish Jail where they were booked with attempted armed robbery and possession of a firearm with obliterated serial number.
