PLAQUEMINES PARISH, LA (WVUE) -

Plaquemines Parish deputies rescued three Baton Rouge area men and their dog Saturday afternoon from Venice Marsh.

Deputies said their 18-foot aluminum duck boat was disabled during a hunting trip in the lower part of the parish. Other than being cold and wet, the men are said to be fine.

Deputies said they received a call around 8 a.m. from the trio reporting that their boat was disabled due to a mechanical problem and they were stranded in an area known as the Wagon Wheel.

The Marine Division responded to the area and searched for the hunters, but could not initially locate them. The Aviation Unit was asked to help and was able to find the boaters shortly after 1 p.m.

The men and the dog were brought to shore.
