6 armed robberies reported in less than 24 hours in NOLA

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Six armed robberies were reported in New Orleans in less than 24 hours on Saturday.

According to preliminary reports from NOPD, six people were robbed at gunpoint and two by a man with a knife in six separate incidents.

The first robbery occurred around 6 a.m. in the French Quarter. According to a preliminary report from NOPD, a 29-year-old man was walking near the corner of Chartres and Iberville streets when an armed man approached him, pulled out a gun and demanded the 29-year-old's money.

The victim complied, but the armed robber then forced him to use a nearby ATM to withdraw more cash. The gunman then fled the scene in an unknown direction with the victim's money and cell phone.

The second armed robbery occurred in the 1400 block of S. Gayoso Street nearly eight hours later.

A man and woman were renovating a property on the block when an armed man approached them on a bicycle. According to preliminary reports from NOPD, the unidentified gunman took a wallet, cell phone and cash before fleeing the scene.

The third armed robbery took place in Mid-City. According to preliminary reports from NOPD, two armed black males forced a 55-year-old man inside his home in the 3200 block of Banks Street before taking his money and leaving.

An hour later, an 18-year-old man was carjacked in Lakeview.

According to preliminary reports from NOPD, the victim was getting out of his car near the corner of Marshall Foch and Hidalgo Streets when two men and a woman approached him and demanded his property and keys. The victim complied and the three subjects then fled in the victim's car.

Another carjacking occurred less than an hour later near the corner of Columbus and N. Rocheblave. According to preliminary reports from NOPD, a 30-year-old woman was walking to her vehicle when an unknown, armed black male approached her from behind and stole her keys. The armed man then fled in her vehicle.

The final robbery occurred the next day, just after 2 a.m. on Jan. 3. According to preliminary reports from NOPD, two 17-year-old males were walking near the corner of Bourbon Street and Bienville and a man armed with a knife approached them from behind. The armed man demanded their money and the two teenagers complied. The subject then fled the scene on foot.
