The Krewe of Perseus - Jan. 24

The Krewe of Perseus - Jan. 24

SLIDELL, LA (WVUE) - The Krewe of Perseus starts at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan, 24 in Slidell. It starts on Spartan Dr., turns right onto Pontchartrain Dr., and then another right on Front St. From there, it heads to Gause Blvd., where it makes a right. The parade continues towards I-10, before ending at Kensington Blvd.

The Krewe of Perseus was chartered by the State of Louisiana on April 27, 1970, thus making it the oldest Carnival organization in Slidell.  We are incorporated as "Beau Geste, Inc." or in English, "Graceful Gesture".  The purpose of the Krewe was (and is) to bring a true Mardi Gras ball and parade to the City of Slidell.  We are strictly a social organization and operate with funds which are generated solely by our members through dues and other assessments if necessary.  The minimum age of a member is 21 years old.  The "Krewe of Perseus Year" begins one week after Mardi Gras and ends after the following Mardi Gras.

The Krewe of Perseus Members pride themselves in being a social organization and keep Perseus this way by bringing in the people that they would like to socialize with.  We party and play together and form many lifelong friendships through Perseus.  Therefore, we try to keep our number around 200-250 members so we will be never get too big to be together and party together.  We cherish our members!  Please bring YOUR friends in as Members of Perseus!

Our by-laws simply require us to have two general membership meetings a year; however, the present Board of Governors feel that our members should have the opportunity to meet with each other through the year at different types of social functions.  Besides our Bal Masque and Parade, they have initiated numerous other major functions and several smaller outings which, as members, you are invited and indeed encouraged to attend.
