JEFFERSON PARISH, LA (WVUE) - An arrest warrant was issued Tuesday for a suspect in the attempted armed robbery of a Jefferson Highway gas station, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
At approximately 4:30 a.m. the Sheriff's Office 4th District Patrol Division responded to the Shell station in the 4501 block of Jefferson Highway. Investigators said a black male entered the business armed with a blunt object and approached the victim, threatened her, and demanded that she open the cash register. The victim tried repeatedly, but was unable to. The suspect then fled the business.
During the follow-up investigation, JPSO Robbery Detective Richard Hines positively identified Tommie Williams, 33, as the suspect. An arrest warrant for Williams has been issued for one count of attempted armed robbery.
Investigators said Williams is known to ride a bicycle on Jefferson Highway between Clearview Parkway and the Jefferson / Orleans Parish boundary. He also walks with a distinctive limp.
