Houma police link suspect to chase of 4-wheeler

HOUMA, LA (WVUE) - Houma Police say shortly after midnight on Jan. 5, officers responded to the 8100 block of Main Street in reference to reports of a subject riding a 4-wheeler.

As officers patrolled, the subject on the 4-wheeler was observed in the area of Walnut Street.  Upon noticing law enforcement, investigators say the subject on the 4-wheeler immediately took off at a high rate of speed and nearly struck a police unit.

After a brief pursuit, the suspect allegedly drove the 4-wheeler recklessly throughout various streets within the city of Houma, then headed to neighborhoods near the area of Park Avenue in the jurisdiction of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office.

The suspect, who was later identified as Zachary Thibodeaux, was apprehended after police say he discarded the 4-wheeler.

He was arrested on charges including Aggravated Flight from an Officer and Operating an Unsafe Vehicle.  .

Zachary Thibodeaux was booked on the aforementioned charges and transported to the jail to await bond or court.
