KENNER, LA (WVUE) - An Amtrak passenger train struck a vehicle in Kenner on Thursday, resulting in minor injuries, according to Kenner police.
The accident happened just after 3 p.m. at the intersection of Hanson Place and Kenner Avenue.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a work truck drove around the crossing guards in an attempt to beat the train. The train crashed into the rear of the truck.
Two passengers and the engineer complained of minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital as a precaution. The driver of the truck did not complain of any injuries and will be cited for driving without a license and failure to yield to a train.
No streets were blocked as a result of this crash.
