NOPD searching for armed robbery suspect

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans police are asking for the public's help finding a suspect who is wanted for a Friday armed robbery in the 200 block of South White Street.

Around 5 p.m., a 27-year-old woman was walking on South White Street when she was approached from behind by an armed black man on a bike.

The suspect pointed a pistol at the victim and demanded her purse. She complied and handed the suspect her purse. He then fled the area on the bike.

The suspect is described as a black male 5-feet 9-inches to 6-feet tall with a stocky build, weighing about 200 pounds.

The suspect is believed to be responsible for other robberies in the area.

Citizens with information that can help solve this crime are asked to call Crimestoppers at 822-1111 or toll-free 1-877-903-STOP.  You could receive a cash reward of up to $2,500 for the information leading only to the arrest, except on homicides, where Crimestoppers will pay half of the reward upon the arrest and half on the indictment of the responsible person(s).
