NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Uptown commuters will need to find an alternate route beginning tomorrow as the city is set to close Magazine Street between Nashville and Jefferson Avenue to repair a damaged sewer line.
The closure for emergency repairs will begin at 7 a.m. Tuesday, January 12.
The city is starting the work now in hopes of finishing and reopening the stretch in the 5700 block before Uptown parades begin.
Beginning tomorrow, there will be no through traffic in the 5700 block of Magazine Street.
Drivers heading toward downtown, will be diverted onto Nashville Ave. toward Tchoupitoulas Street. Motorists heading toward Audubon Park will be detoured at Jefferson Avenue toward St. Charles Avenue.
