Houma Police: Stolen gun and pot found during traffic stop

HOUMA, LA (WVUE) - Houma Police say a traffic stop led to the discovery of a stolen pistol and a bag of marijuana.

Officers say just before midnight on Tuesday they detected a strong smell of pot coming from a vehicle near Main Street and Lafayette Street.

Police say when they stopped the vehicle, the passenger, 23-year-old Louis Antoine, was carrying a plastic bag containing 1.95 grams of marijuana, as well as a loaded pistol.  Investigators say the pistol was reported stolen in a vehicle burglary back in August of 2014.

Officers booked Antoine with several charges including possession of marijuana and possession of a stolen firearm by a convicted felon. The driver of the vehicle was not arrested.
