NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Entrance ramps near the Superdome reopen Friday, Jan. 15 for the first time in nearly a year.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced the reopening of the westbound ramps onto U.S. 90B/Pontchartrain Expressway from stadium drive effective at 10:00 a.m., Jan. 15.
The ramps closed in February of 2015 for work on a major Interstate 10 improvement project.
The DOTD says a few tasks remain on the project which reconfigures a portion of the Pontchartrain Expressway, but the project should be completed by February.
The project restored a third lane on U.S. 90B west by extending the acceleration lane on the ramp. Drivers entering from the Superdome/Claiborne ramps will have to merge into traffic. Because of that, the DOTD cautions drivers to take note and follow the new striping and signs.
