NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Southern Methodist entered Devlin Fieldhouse with the last remaining unblemished record in the country. They exited with a 60-45 victory, but the Wave made the 10th ranked Mustangs work for their 17th win.
Tulane only trailed by four points at half, keeping hope alive for a massive upset. Unfortunately for Ed Conroy's squad, they were outscored by 11 points in the second half.
The Wave's leading scorer was Melvin Frazier with 11 points. Markus Kennedy paced SMU with 13.
The loss drops Tulane to 8-11 overall, and 1-4 in conference play.
SMU is ineligible for postseason play due to NCAA violations.
