ST. BERNARD PARISH, LA (WVUE) - The Louisiana State Police just wrapped up its investigation into a St. Bernard deputy's fatal shooting of a suspect.
In September of 2015, troopers say 21-year-old Tyrone Bass was shot and killed at the intersection of St. Bernard Highway and Andres Street.
Investigators say Bass hit the deputy in the back of the head with a railroad spike.
Bass died at the scene. The injured deputy was treated at a hospital and released.
It is standard procedure for State Police to investigate a deputy-involved shooting.
A spokesman for the Louisiana State Police says the findings have been turned over to the St. Bernard District Attorney's Office for review.
