SLIDELL, LA (WVUE) -

St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Deputies arrested a Slidell man, responsible for robbing a cab driver. The incident occurred Jan 10, 2016 on Park Drive in Slidell.

According to police, deputies responded to a motel on the East I-10 Service Road, Sunday, to help evict a man who did not pay his bill. Police made contact with 38-year-old Laquant Brown and while helping in the eviction of Brown from the motel, discovered items that were taken during the robbery. While being questioned, Brown admitted to robbing the cab driver and told police where the rest of the stolen property was.

Police learned that on Jan 10, the cab driver went to pick up a passenger, later identified Brown, on Park Drive. Once he got in the cab, Brown told the driver that he had a gun and demanded money from him. Brown took the driver's money bag, two cell phones and other items before running away.

Brown was transported to the St. Tammany Parish Jail where he was booked with armed robbery and one count of contempt of court nor non-payment of child support. His bond was set at $106,000.
