Pelicans erase 17-point deficit to beat Timberwolves, 114-99

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - After a last-second loss in Memphis Monday, the Pelicans got off to a sluggish start against the Timberwolves, trailing 38-21 in the first quarter before roaring back to win with relative ease, 114-99.

Anthony Davis did his part in the first half with 22 of his 35 points against his fellow University of Kentucky product and first overall draft pick, Karl-Anthony Towns. Tyreke Evans missed two of the last three contests with a bruised knee but logged 13 points in 21 minutes.

Jrue Holiday was one of five Pels in double figures and spoke after the game with Jennifer Hale about the team's urgent mentality sitting at 14-27 "We have these two weeks left to really get back into it and we want it. We want it more than they do. We know they have the same record we do but to get back in the 8th seed, we really want it."

New Orleans' seven-game home stand continues with the Pistons coming to town Thursday, sporting a 22-19 record. Tip-off for the teams' first meeting of the season is set for 7 p.m.
