HOUMA, LA (WVUE) - Houma Police arrested Gene Paul Callahan Jr., 28, on Thursday after they pulled him over and he ran from police.
Police say around 9 p.m., they spotted a white Ford Taurus speeding on East Street in a 25 mph zone. Officers pulled the car over, and Callahan got out and tried to run away. He was arrested after a brief foot pursuit.
Officers say they found a digital scale in Callahan's front pants pocket. Investigators say Callahan also discarded five small plastic packages with narcotics ranging from heroin, MDMA and alprazolam.
All of the packages were recovered and Callahan was arrested for speeding, resisting an officer. Possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to distribute heroin and MDMA and possession with the intent to distribute alprazolam. He was taken to jail and booked on the charges.
