Krewe of Endymion - Feb. 6

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The Krewe of Endymion rolls on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 4:15 in Mid-City New Orleans. The parade starts at the intersection of City Park Ave. and Orleans Ave.

It travels down Orleans Ave. to N. Carrollton Ave. where it makes a right and continues on to Canal St.

The krewe travels through Mid-City to the CBD until it reaches St. Charles Ave. The parade takes a right and heads around Lee Circle.

It takes Howard Ave. and makes a right on Loyola Ave. It winds throgh Dave Dixon Dr., Liberty St., Julia St. and Le Rouge Ln.

The last turn is onto LaSalle St. and into Champions Square. It heads into the Superdome for the Endymion Extravaganza.

Founded in 1967 as a small neighborhood venture in the Bayou St. John - Gentilly area, the largest krewe in Mardi Gras history is named for the Olympian god of fertility and eternal youth.

By 1974, Endymion had grown into a super club.

each year Endymion selects celebrity grand marshals such as Dolly Parton, Chicago, Beach Boys, Kid Rock, and Maroon 5, who thrill the parde goers and entertain guests at the Extravaganza, held in the Superdome following the parade.

By 2015, the club's all-male membership had reached 3,000, and attendance at its after-parade party will total more than 20,000.
