(WVUE) - LSU failed in 2015 to grab a national title, but they look well on their way to getting the top stop where 2016 recruiting is concerned.
This morning in Monroe, Rashard Lawrence of Neville High School chose LSU over Ohio State in a packed auditorium.
Lawrence is a 6'3", 305-pound defensive tackle. 24/7 sports list him as five-star recruit. He's also ranked as the 23rd best prospect in the country. Neville won back-to-back state titles with Lawrence on the squad.
Going into Friday, Ohio State was ahead of LSU in all three recruiting ranking services: 24/7, ESPN and Rivals.Lawrence's commitment should put the Tigers in the top spot.
National Signing Day is February 3rd.
