Man who tried to run down JPSO deputy booked on additional burglary charges

TERRYTOWN, LA (WVUE) -

A man in custody after attempting to run over a Jefferson Parish sheriff’s deputy was booked on additional burglary charges stemming from the original car theft.

Equan Anderson, who was already in jail, on attempted first-degree murder of a police officer, possession of the stolen car, aggravated flight from an officer, and resisting arrest, was charged with simple burglary and possession of stolen property for stealing a television and two video game consoles.

In addition to Anderson, Brandon Roche, Timothy Kent and two juveniles are were charged in connection with the incident on January 4 on Carol Sue Avenue in Terrytown.

Burglary Detective Manuel Estrada researched property stolen in the incident, including the serial number on the Samsung TV’s taken in the burglary.  Pawnshop transactions made by Anderson were confirmed, leading investigators to the recovery of the Samsung 52-inch flat-screen television from Cash America Pawn Shop in New Orleans.
