Tulane student accused of burglary faces new assault charge

A scheduled court hearing for the Tulane student accused of at least three Uptown home invasions was delayed Friday because authorities filed another charge against him.

Oliver Jerde, 22, now faces one charge of aggravated assault in addition to four counts of aggravated burglary after one of the alleged victims claimed he pointed a knife at her.

Police say Jerde unlawfully entered two apartments on Lowerline on the same day and stole items.

The New Orleans Police Department arrested the Jerde Thursday as he was allegedly breaking into another home.

Police say they're investigating whether the suspect is responsible for other Uptown home invasions as well.
