LaMothe named head football coach at Helen Cox

A familiar name to high school football in the area is back as a head coach. Derek "Skip" LaMothe was hired Helen Cox High School today.

"We would like to welcome LaMothe to the Helen Cox family. Coach LaMothe has a history of success educating students on and off the field," said Helen Cox High Principal Mark Perry.

LaMothe served as the head football coach at his alma mater, L.B. Landry High, from 2002-2005 and as its head football coach and athletics director from 2011-2012. LaMothe was the head football coach at O. Perry Walker High from 2006-2009. He was an assistant football coach for McDonogh #35 last season.

Willie Brooks was the previous head football coach at Cox.
