NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - New Orleans police have opened an investigation after the body of an unidentified man was found in the Mississippi River.
Harbor Police received a call of a body located in the middle of the river, Sunday around 3 p.m. Police recovered the man's body from the water near Leake Avenue. A Harbor Police spokesperson said that the man was wearing black pants but investigators could not determine the man's race due to the state of the body.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's office will perform an autopsy to identify the man and determine the exact cause of death.
