NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - The day began with frigid temperatures with most North Shore locations getting down into the twenties, but with plenty of sunshine and a shift in the winds, things are looking up. Most of us saw upper 50s and comfortable conditions through the afternoon. Even warmer temperatures are on the way as we finish out the weekend and head into the work week.
Sunday night a weak warm front moves in significantly increasing moisture. This combined with clear skies and light winds as well as the cold ground will lead to an abundance of fog late tonight into Monday morning. Be prepared for extra time on the roadways as temperatures will be right in line with dew points. The fog should lift during the day Monday and we will see a dramatic increase in temperatures, but clouds will return to the picture.
Late Monday into Tuesday conditions will be favorable for some showers and even a few thunderstorms to develop. Look for more fog Tuesday morning and a cold front late Tuesday night. The front will be very slow moving and will leave us overcast with a cold rain into the day on Wednesday. Expect clearing and more pleasant conditions by the end of the week.
