Suspect arrested, charged with shooting JPSO deputy

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

A 26-year-old New Orleans man is in custody accused of shooting a Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s  Deputy several times during an early morning narcotics-related operation.

Jarvis Hardy will be booked with attempted first degree murder and narcotics violations after he allegedly shot JPSO Deputy Stephen Arnold. The incident happened in the 5300 block of Douglas Street in the Holy Cross area of the Lower Ninth Ward.

At approximately 6:10 a.m., a Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force was executing a search warrant when Jarvis Hardy, 26, allegedly opened fire on Arnold.  Hardy was quickly arrested without further incident.

Arnold remains in critical condition at University Medical Center.
