LSU basketball gets contributions from several in win over Georgia

Freshman phenom Ben Simmons got LSU off to a fast start against Georgia, scoring six of the Tigers' first eight points but Johnny Jones' squad finished with five players in double digits of a 89-85 win.

Simmons totaled 22 points and 14 rebounds after a challenging night at the free throw line, making 10-of-17 attempts. Tim Quarterman was also sent to the charity stripe frequently, earning 13 of his 19 points at the line. As a team, LSU shot 53 free throws, making 35 of them.

The Tigers improve to 13-7 in advance of their Saturday visit from top-ranked Oklahoma. Tip-off from the SEC-Big 12 Challenge meeting is set for 4 p.m.
