Mandeville police make arrest in counterfeit case

MANDEVILLE, LA (WVUE) - The Mandeville Police Department arrested Brooklyn Heard, 22,  on theft and other charges after an investigation that began in conjunction with the United States Secret Service Louisiana Financial Crimes Task Force.

Members of the Mandeville Police Department say they were made aware that on or about Aug. 15, 2015, the U.S. Secret Service New Orleans Field Office received 5 counterfeit $100 US Federal Reserve Notes that had been passed at the Walmart Neighborhood Market in Mandeville.

Further investigation yielded Heard as a suspect. On January 05, 2016 warrants were obtained for the arrest of Brooklyn Heard. She was arrested in Mobile, AL as a fugitive and subsequently extradited and arrested by the Covington Police Department on related charges on January 21, 2016.

Heard was later arrested by the Mandeville Police Department and left in the custody of the St. Tammany Parish Jail.
