HOUMA, LA (WVUE) -

Houma Police say the suspect admitted to trashing stolen credit cards in connection to a car burglary investigation.

Police officers arrested 21-year-old Tyler Ledet at his home in Montegut on Tuesday. He was booked at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on two charges, simple burglary and unauthorized use of an access card. Police say they were unable to find the victim's belongings. Tyler reportedly stated that he threw away the credit cards.

Investigators say the burglary happened Friday (Jan. 22) near the Terrebonne General Medical Center. The victim says while she was at the hospital, someone entered her vehicle and rummaged through her purse. She reported investigators that a stolen credit card was used at several locations on the eastside of Houma.

Houma Police want to remind drivers to lock their cars and keep items of value out of sight.
