NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

New Orleans police are investigating a shooting in a New Orleans East McDonald's that left a 31-year-old man injured. The incident occurred Wednesday, in the 10000 block of North I-10 Service Road.

A source close to the investigation tells FOX 8 that there were about 12 employees and four customers inside the restaurant around 3 p.m. when four men walked in and went straight into to the restroom. A short time later, the employees heard a series of shots. At first the employees thought the noises were fireworks or that someone was playing a prank, but found out that a man was shot multiple times in the restroom. Two of the employees tried to help the man and called 911 on his cell phone.

The victim was brought to a local hospital where he is listed is critical condition.

According to police, investigators believe that he was the target of an attempted robbery.

If you have any information that could help police, you are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
