NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

The City of New Orleans reminds residents it extended the payment deadline to Monday, February 1 for 2016 property taxes.

City officials strongly urge property owners to pay online or by mail to avoid long lines at City Hall.

City Hall will extend its office hours on Monday to accept payments from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

January 31 would normally be the deadline but since it falls on a weekend the city decided to change the due date.

Residents who plan to pay in person may do so at the Bureau of Treasury in City Hall, Room 1W40. The City will also provide a drop-off lane at the Perdido Street entrance to City Hall on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Residents may view and pay their property tax bills online by visiting http://www.nola.gov/pay-taxes/ and select “Real Estate Property Tax.” To pay online, residents will need their tax bill number.

For questions about property tax payments, call the Bureau of the Treasury at (888) 387-8027.
