(WVUE) - A man arrested by Washington Parish Sheriff's deputies escaped from the substation in Bogalusa on Thursday but was quickly recaptured.
Kristopher Allen White, 28, was arrested by Bogalusa Police on Wednesday for outstanding traffic warrants. On Thursday, he was transferred to the Sheriff's Office in Bogalusa for questioning about car burglaries near Highway 439.
Deputies say White bolted through an unlocked door during a break in questioning and ran - barefooted and wearing leg shackles and handcuffs - along Mississippi Avenue.
After a short search, White was located in a shed behind the office of Bogalusa City Judge Robert Black.
White is expected to be charged with escape and the vehicle burglaries. He has been transferred to the Washington Parish Jail.
"I appreciate the quick response of our officers, the Bogalusa Police Department and the Rayburn officers," said Sheriff Randy Seal. "It is ironic that he was behind Judge Black's office. Perhaps he was making his way there to seek legal advice. He certainly will need some now."
