NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - It turned out to be a beautiful day with plenty of blue sky and sunshine across the area. Temperatures are a bit cool with some locations on the North Shore starting out in the 30s and most of us only warming into the low 60s for highs. A great stretch of weather is on the way and the timing is perfect as we go into another weekend of Carnival celebrations.
Tonight, expect mostly clear conditions that combined with very dry air and light northwesterly winds set us an ideal situation for radiational cooling. Most locations on the north shore will see freezing conditions and a few south shore spots may get down to 32 degrees as well. In the metro area and near the lake we can expect to stay in the middle 30s.
Friday looks to be a spectacular day with plenty of sunshine. Highs in the middle 60s and clear skies into the evening for parades and Family Gras. Evening temperatures will be in the 50s with a slight warm up for the rest of the weekend.
Saturday winds become southerly again increasing moisture and warming temps into the low 70s. A weak disturbance will push past us on Sunday increasing clouds and bringing a slight chance for a shower late night into early Monday.
