Family Gras kicks off tonight in Metairie

METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) - Family Gras begins tonight in Metairie.

The annual Mardi Gras festival is sandwiched onto the neutral ground near Lakeside Mall is the perfect weekend retreat for anyone looking to catch a parade and some rocking live music too.

The best part is Family Gras is free.

Tonight Dr. John will play as Excalibur and Athena roll through.

There a wide variety of food in the Flambeau Food court.  Some items include crab cakes and jambalaya.

After a few tunes filling up on food and beads, there is an area arts and crafts vendors have their creations for sale.

A rundown of the big acts this weekend include Paris Avenue, Dr John and the Nite Trippers on Friday night.
Saturday, The Monkees 50th Anniversary tour, Imagination Movers, So Long Storyland, Big Sam's Funky Nation, Andy Grammer.

Sunday bands include, Remedy, Amanda Shaw, Johnny Rivers, Rodney Atkins, The Band Perry.
