FOX 8 Defenders: Concerns over leak on Uptown parade route

Neighbors along the Uptown parade route in New Orleans turned to the FOX 8 Defenders about a leak in the street.  They're worried it could impact parades, and people who enjoy them.  With thousands of locals and tourists flocking to the area for the first full weekend of parades Uptown, residents fear it could become a public safety concern.

Right now, water is leaking out of the street in the 4000 block of St. Charles Avenue.  Neighbors tell the Defenders it appears the leak has gotten worse.  We found water along St. Charles Avenue between Constantinople and Marengo streets.

The Sewerage and Water Board tells FOX 8, crews inspected the leak for a second time Wednesday that revealed a small leak.  They tell us soil under the surface has not been displaced, and believe it's best to wait until after Mardi Gras to repair the leak.

If you've got a consumer concern, call the FOX 8 Defenders staffed with volunteers from the National Council of Jewish Women at 1-877-670-6397 or fill out an online complaint form.
