NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

Practice started Uptown Friday for the Tulane Green Wave baseball team. Coach David Pierce's team returns their entire pitching staff and seven starters in the field.

Collegiate Baseball Magazine ranks the Wave 19th in their preseason poll.

In 2015, not much was expected out of the Wave in Pierce's debut season, but Tulane made a regional with an inexperienced lineup. In 2016, anything less than the postseason would be underwhelming.

"That's the key word for the season this year, expectations," Pierce said. "We have a great amount of expectations going into today. The first three weeks going into Illinois. The team is very excited, worked very hard in the Fall. Looking forward to the season."
