The man heading up an effort to keep three confederate-era monuments in New Orleans files paperwork with the state Supreme Court to stop their removal.

Tuesday, an appeals court judge refused to issue a restraining order keeping the city from taking them down.

Pierre McGraw, president of the Monumental Task Committee, is asking the Louisiana Supreme Court for expedited consideration on the matter.

McGraw says he wants to stop the city from removing the Lee, Beauregard, and Davis monuments based on the constitutional right of the people to preserve their culture and history.
