THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) - Police are investigating a shooting during a Mardi Gras parade in Thibodaux that left two men injured. The incident occurred Sunday around 2:30 p.m. near the intersection of Jackson Street and Canal Boulevard.
According to police, the shooting took place as the Krewe of Shaka parade was passing through the area. Officers, who were nearby working the parade, quickly responded to the scene.
According to police, the two men shot are being investigated as suspects. Investigators learned that an altercation between the two men escalated into a shootout. Police say that one of the men involved was wearing body armor at the time of the incident.
The two men who were shot were brought to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center for treatment and their conditions are unknown at this time, police say.
There were no other injuries reported.
