HAMMOND, LA (WVUE) - Southeastern Louisiana Baseball set a Southland Conference record for wins in 2015 with 25 in Head Coach Matt Riser's second season at the helm and according to the league's coaches, the Lions are the favorite to win the title again.
In a preseason poll of Southland coaches, 10-of-13 picked the green and gold to finish first. Northwestern State is slotted second, while McNeese and Nicholls come in fourth and fifth, respectively. UNO was voted to the bottom of the league at 13th.
The Lions will be led by left-handed pitcher Kyle Cedotal, who was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association preseason All-American Team. Junior outfielder Jacob Seward is the reigning Southland Conference Player of the Year.
Riser's team gets the season started in Hammond on Friday, Feb. 19th in the first contest of three-game series against UL-Monroe.
