CHALMETTE, LA (WVUE)
The FOX 8 Defenders learn that the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office has turned over multiple consumer complaints against a local furniture company to the District Attorney's office.
Detectives began investigating complaints filed against Hamilton Enterprises in Chalmette after a series of FOX 8 Defenders reports addressed concerns from several area families. They claimed they've waited too long for furniture that they've either paid for in full or financed. In some of the cases, the company has told us it's tried to make delivery and customers refused.
The sheriff's office says in its investigation, detectives compiled at least eight cases into one report that's now in the hands of the St. Bernard District Attorney. The D.A.'s office will review it and decide whether the complaints are a civil or criminal matter.
If you've got a consumer concern, call the FOX 8 Defenders staffed with volunteers from the National Council of Jewish Women at 1-877-670-6397 or fill out an online complaint form.
