THIBODAUX, LA (WVUE) - A Thibodaux man was arrested and charged for holding a woman hostage for nearly 20 hours and beating her, according to a report from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's office.
Jamie Scarbrough, 49, of Thibodaux was arrested Tuesday and charged after he held is ex-girlfriend hostage.
Around 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Lafourche Parish deputies responded to a Thibodaux home for a call that a woman had been beaten and held against her will.
The woman told investigators that she came home for lunch on Monday and discovered Scarbrough standing outside her home.
Scarbrough then entered the home and kept the victim in the house through the night. He was armed with a knife.
The next morning, the victim attempted to escape, but Scarbrough caught her and then is accused of striking her several times. She was eventually able to break free and get out of the house and call for help.
Deputies called Scarbrough and he agreed to surrender.
He was arrested and taken to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center where he was booked with felony domestic abuse battery and false imprisonment and offender armed with a dangerous weapon.
Bond was set at $60,000, and he is also being held for Louisiana Probation and Parole.
