Mardi Gras revelers beware: Police will be looking for parking violators in the French Quarter. (FOX 8)
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -
Pay attention if you don't want your vehicle towed from the French Quarter during the Mardi Gras celebration.
A large portion of the area will be closed to traffic and on-street parking in anticipation of large crowds.
Beginning on Friday at 6 p.m. and continuing until Ash Wednesday at 6 a.m., no on-street parking or vehicular traffic into the French Quarter is allowed in the area between Iberville and Dumaine streets and between North Rampart and Decatur streets, except those with resident permits.
Police say residents of the Vieux Carre should display the permits on their dashboards so they are visible to officers.
Vehicles in violation are subject to a $75 fine and a $161.25 tow fee.
