Police name suspect in Central City shooting

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - New Orleans police have named a suspect in a Central City shooting that left one man injured. Dwayne Butler, 27, was identified as the person responsible for shooting and injuring a 23-year-old man. The incident occurred on Thursday Jan 28, 2016, around 8:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of South Liberty Street.

Police say that officers were in the area at the time of the incident. After hearing the gunshots, the officers responded to the scene and found the victim, lying on the sidewalk, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was brought to a local hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

Detectives investigating the shooting were able to name Butler as the man responsible. Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Butler for second degree murder.
