NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) - Flip flopping models had us concerned early on, but as the weekend drew near, all came into consensus and we are seeing a pretty fabulous stretch of weather as Mardi Gras approaches.
The one thing we could ask for is that it would be a little less chilly, but you can't have everything. A small upper level system is rotating around the base of a trough pushing across the region. The main energy with this system is off shore, and while we see a few areas of light shower activity on radar, most of this is virga, light showers that evaporate before reaching the ground. We can expect the clouds to move on leaving us with a clear night and cold conditions.
Sunday looks even nicer with more sun and slightly less cold daytime temperatures, but it will still be frigid at night. Looking ahead to Lundi Gras and Mardi Gras it's staying dry, but getting even colder. High temperatures will struggle to get out of the 40s. Be prepared to bundle up and keep warm over the holidays.
