Liberty Bank branch on Canal Street robbed

NEW ORLEANS, LA (WVUE) -

The FBI is investigating the Monday afternoon robbery of the Liberty Bank branch in Mid-City.

The robbery happened just after noon in the 2700 block of Canal Street.

Police said a man walked into the bankand handed a teller a not demanding money. He left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5'8" to 5'10" tall with a heavy to medium build. He was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt drawn tight around his face, a dark-colored ski jacket, blue jeans and tennis shoes.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the FBI at (504) 816-3000 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111. The Metropolitan Orleans Bank Security Association is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
