HOUMA, LA (WVUE) -

A Cut Off woman was killed by an alleged hit-and-run driver in Houma on Tuesday.

Police responded to the 200 block of Howard Ave. around 2 a.m. to investigate an accident.

Investigators learned that Rona Delatte, 46, was hit by a dark colored Honda Accord as she was walking across the street. The car left the scene after the accident.

Delatte was taken to the hospital where she died as a result of her injuries.

Houma officers located the vehicle suspected in the crash abandoned in a nearby neighborhood near Sonny St. and Boudreaux St.

Shortly thereafter, the suspect, Telisa Clark, 50, of Houma surrendered to police.

Authorities believe Delatte was leaving Music Cove when she was struck by the vehicle as it headed south towards Tunnel Blvd.

Clark was charged with hit and run fatality. Alcohol is not suspected, but further investigation is being conducted.
