NOPD reports two Wednesday night carjackings

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

The New Orleans Police Department is investigating two Wednesday night carjackings.

At 10:42 p.m. in the 3000 block of Frenchman Street a 40-year-old woman was sitting inside her vehicle when she was approached by two suspects described as black males.

One of the suspects was armed with a silver handgun and demanded she get out of the car.

The victim complied and the subjects fled in the victim’s black 2006 Honda Pilot.

The second incident occurred at 11:07 p.m. in the 6400 block of Fitzhenry Court.

A 77-year-old woman was getting out of her vehicle when she was approached by a suspect described as a black male armed with a gun.

The suspect asked the victim for directions and money and then demanded her car keys.

The victim complied and the subject fled inside her vehicle.

Shortly after the car was stolen, a chase ensued and the suspects were arrested.

Police arrested Lewis Lebanks, 17, and three juveniles, ages 16, 15 and 13.
