Pelicans struggling to focus after Ingrid Williams death

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) -

The Pelicans players found out about the passing of Monty Williams wife Ingrid, in pregame last night.

They won the contest over the Jazz 100-96, but they were thinking about their former head coach's wife throughout the game.

Ingrid passed away on Feb. 10 after a car accident, and players focus wasn't at the Smoothie King Center all the time.

"I could see it last night in pregame," said Head Coach Alvin Gentry. "It was really difficult for our guys to get through it. Because she has had such an impact on the players and she had even more of an impact maybe with mothering she did for most of the guys. Just the type of person that she is, and what she wanted everybody to feel like, they had a home away from home."

The Pelicans play the Thunder tonight in Oklahoma City. Williams is an assistant coach for OKC.
